Reflexology

Reflexology is a form of massage focusing primarily on the feet. Based on the premise that there
are reflex points in the feet that correspond to every part of the body, reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to these points in order to stimulate the body’s natural healing.

Reflexology is extremely beneficial for helping with all muscular/skeletal problems, especially back or neck problems, It is also helpful with digestive disorders, reproductive and fertility issues, respiratory conditions, and stress. It is often used as a preventative or maintenance program and is suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. A reflexology session lasts approximately an hour,
starting with a foot bath before the therapy.

In reflexology, the body is divided into ten zones running longitudinally from head to toe, five on each side of the body. The soles of the feet represent a map of the entire body, where the toes reflect the head and neck; the soft balls of the feet for the shoulders and chest; the upper arch corresponds to the area from the diaphragm to the waist; the lower arch is the waist and pelvic area, and the heels reflect the lower part of the body. The inside and outside curves of the feet, as well as the ankles, also correspond to certain areas. There are also certain spots that correspond to organs in the body.

Reflexology employs the principle that these reflex points, when worked by hand pressure, will reflexively stimulate energy to a related muscle or organ and promote healing. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalance in the feet, and by working on these points, the reflexologist can release blockages and restore free flow of the energy to the whole body. For each person, the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. The gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.
